I liked the book, though I think this prequel might conflict with the picture Barr paints of the later Anna Pigeon in her earlier Pigeon books. As with her other books, the writing is not fantastic, but Anna Pigeon is a great character! Worth reading just for Anna. |

While I really enjoyed reading this book, mostly because I'm an Anna Pigeon fan and I'm very familiar with the landscape the story was set in, I found it puzzling that this far down the Anna Pigeon road, we get the history of her beginnings. It would have been nice--many, many books ago--to have all this info.
